A year and a half ago, Hands of Hope sent out the 50 beginner's embroidery kits to the girls in Zimbabwe. The idea was that we could
remotley teach the girl's embroidery skills that they could in turn, use to earn money for themselves - to be able to pay for
schooling they might not otherwise get. Not only has this been very successful, the girls have started embroidery clubs, teaching
other girls the skills that they have learned. They also use the club time as self-therapy group, helping each other through the
difficult times that come from a life of sexual abuse, rape, child marriage and more.
This year we will be sending 50 advanced kits, teaching more stitches and helping the girls to learn how to design their own projects.
We will also be sending 50 more beginner kits for the many girls who have asked to be part of the program.
Once these shipments are off, the fund raising will switch to the Efata School for the Deaf in Iquitos, Peru. We will find what need
the school has such as text books, supplies, or general tuition help for the students.
The excitement of changing lives can be contagious. Come join us on this great adventure.
We are working hard to add new items to our Etsy store to raise money for the shipping of 50 beginner and 50
advanced embroidery kits to Zimbabwe. The girls have started embroidery clubs and are eager to continue to learn.
Those working with the girls have told us of increased confidence, creativity and more. We are also raising funds
to help at the Efata School for the Deaf in Iquitos, Peru where they have many needs.
